Description of the concept.
The FlexProgrammer 9701 (FP9701) is a handy configuration tool for a range of Baumer configurable products with 4...20 mA output signals.
The FP9701 has two cable connections. One for connection to the USB port at a standard PC and one cable for connection to the product.
The FP9701 has an integrated display for monitoring of the product configuration in case the FP9701 is brought to a remote product location.
The four push buttons is for scrolling the display data and store/load of data to/from the product.

The product parameters can be handled in the dedicated Baumer "FlexProgram" software or in a standard FDT container software.
 
Included in the shipment is the FP9701, strap, USB cable, product cable and a CD with software and documentation.
 
 
The hardware.
 
1) Direct configuration mode.
In this mode the FP9701 is connected to and supplied from a PC´s USB port. The product is connected to the product cable and the FP9701 is acting as a signal converter. The integrated display and the push buttons have no function.
 
2) Remote configuration mode.
The FP9701 is disconnected from the PC and brought to the product site. The internal rechargeable battery supplies the FP9701.
 
A) Prior to the disconnection from the PC the product configuration data have been stored in the FP9701.
The remote product can be connected and configured by uploading the configuration from the FP9701 to the product.
 
B) At a remote site the FP9701 can be used for control of a product configuration.
The integrated display shows the configuration details. The buttons are activated for scrolling the data.
 
OBS: The FP9701 is not designed to interface with HART or ProfibusPA signals. To be able to configure HART or ProfibusPA products, a corresponding interface unit is needed.
 
WARNING.
The FP9701 needs installation of a special USB driver which is included in the basic software package.

The software.

The files are organised in two groups:
 
1) For FlexProgram users:
A) "FlexProgram_Package_V-xx-yy".
The basic package for fast and easy installation. Simply unzip the zip-file and run the exe file.
Includes all DTM´s (marked "Flex") for 4...20 mA devices, communication DTM for FP9701, help files, USB drivers, utilities and documentation.
 
B) "HART_DTM_Package_V-xx-yy".
Addition to the basic package.
Includes the DTM´s (marked "HART") for Baumer HART products.
 
C) "ProfiBusPA_DTM_Package_V-xx-yy".
Addition to the basic package.
Includes the DTM´s (marked "PA") for Baumer ProfibusPA products. 
 
2) For standard FDT container software users:
A) "Flex_DTM".
DTM´s for Baumer 4...20 mA devices are available as separate files for download.

B) "HART_DTM".
DTM´s for Baumer HART devices are available as separate files for download.
ex: FlexBarHRT_DTM_HART_V-xx-yy.zip
 
C) "ProfiBusPA_DTM".
DTM´s for Baumer ProfibusPA devices are available as separate files for download.
ex: FlexTop2231_DTM_PA_V-xx-yy.zip
 
After unzipping the file the device DTM can be installed in the FDT container software.
